Hello [21 Dec 2005|08:05am]
I hope this doesn't bring torches to my doorstep, but I myself am not averse to chicken. My sis, on the other hand, is a vegitarian-not a vegan, but close. There is a huge difference to some people, and I always was curious about what makes someone want to become a vegan, a vegetarian or fish-atarian (for lack of the actual word). Anyways...just posting to say hi, I live in WV, etc.

Hello [21 Dec 2004|11:02am]

Hey. Just stumbled across this journal. How wonderful! I've been vegan for about 3.5 years. (I'm 21). I live in Charleston. About a year ago I guess Capitol City Roasters put a vegan sandwich on their menu- the first acknowledgment I've really seen around here.

I'd love to have a picnic sometime around the Charleston area if anyone's interested. Not like I'm going to be around here for longer than a week.

The Blood Brothers’ keyboardist and vocalist Johnny makes the compassionate choice every time he sits down to eat by choosing a vegan diet. Check out http://www.peta2.com/ot/o-BloodBros.html for Johnny’s interview with peta2.com as well as a free e-card with songs from The Blood Brothers’ latest record, “Crimes”.

Every week, peta2.com gives away a special prize to someone selected from that week’s comments on the PETA2 Daily Blog found at http://www.petascript.org/peta2test/ . For the next two weeks things will be a little different. On Friday, October 29, one lucky person will score a copy of The Blood Brother’s 4-song 7" from Hopscotch Records, a must have for any Blood Brother’s fan. The winner will be selected from the comments that are left from Sunday, October 17 through Friday, October 29, and will be posted on the blog on the 29th. In order to win, you must comment with an e-mail address registered with the PETA2 Street Team, so if for some reason you haven't signed up yet, do it now at http://www.peta2.com/street.html !

Poor helpless veggies... [15 Jun 2004|12:43am]

[ mood | Inquisitive ]

I stumbled upon this community and figured 'What the fork.' Id ask a few questions...

Namely, Im curious what leads people to abandon the consumption of succulant flesh. Always been a mystery to me.

I realize some people cannot digest meat, and I truely feel for them. Also some simply don't like the taste, and while I cannot understand that I also wouldn't want someone to force me to eat oakra, so thats fine too.

Beyond that, why?

I dunno, maybe my mindset is too firmly planted in the archaic, but I just don't get it. Animals taste good. Humans are omnivours. If nothing else we need to eat their flesh to show them who is firmly at the top of the food chain in regards to most other things. Always figured thats why sharks, hippos, and the occasional bear make a meal of a tourist. To show dominace.

Anyways, why did *you* take to exclusively eating defenseless veggies?

Hey, my name is Chase.. I currently live in Charleston but move to Huntington in August to start school. I have been a vegetarian/vegan since I was eleven. Finding decent restaraunts with vegan food is difficult around here, so I was thinking... we should make an entry where people could list suggestions for good vegan places to eat around here and add it to the memories or something. I'll start by suggesting Sitar of India in downtown Charleston, it has an amazing vegan selection and isn't very expensive. Anyway, take care everyone!

cool community idea I suppose, but don't expect too many members...

I'm joey, I live in huntington - I have been vegan since spring break and I was vegetarian for a year before that. I like playing video games and hang out with cool people and listening to music. currently on my playlist has been:

- neurosis
- rush
- steve von till
- death cab for cutie
- aesop rock
- sage francis
- quicksand
- envy
- frou frou

I guess that's all I have to say for myself..
